Rube Goldberg
In our Physics class we had to build a rube goldberg machine which is a step by step process that creates something fantastic at the end.
What our Rube practically did was pop a balloon with glitter in it. A marble rolled down a ramp. Landed in a bucket that is attached to a rope that is in a pulley. Then knocked down some domino’s and hit another marble. Which knocked some more domino’s down. That set off a mousetrap that hit a rubber band to make a car go so it could pop a balloon and explode glitter.
1. Explain the flow of energy throughout the whole rube from start to finish, (did it work all with just the input or did you add more along the way? In what ways is your rube efficient or NOT in transferring energy from one step to another)
First, the marble will roll down the ramp, then land into the bucket, and that will knock two dominos down, which will hit a marble to roll down more ramps, to knock some more domino's down, that will land on a mouse trap, which will hit a rubber band, and then there goes a car and POP!!!
2. What was the hardest part of doing this project, how did you persevere?
The hardest part of the rube was trying to set you our rubber band so it could get the car to move so we could get the velocity of the car. And trying to get the rubber band to stay so it could actually work.
3. Personally what was your biggest contribution to the project?
My biggest contribution to this Rube is doing the write ups and building the rube itself. Doing the write ups was a big help to my group because they wanted to work on the rube. The building part I wanted to do some so we all switched. We each had things to do for our rube.
