Passion Project DP Update

What did you do for your passion project, and why?
For my Passion Project, I chose something that was close to my heart. “Helping the Homeless” but instead of calling it “Helping the Homeless”, we are going to call it “Helping the Marginalized and Their Dogs.” It is always sad when I am driving down the road and I see homeless people and their dogs sitting on the side of the road asking for some food or when I see that their dog is down to the skin and bones. So for that reason, I wanted to help them out with food, water, dog food, and dog toys. A lot of people think that if you give a Marginalized person on the side of the road some money that they are just going to go buy drugs with it. Some people aren’t like that, a lot of the homeless men and woman that I talked to said that they are just looking for some food. One of the Marginalized people that I talked to said that when someone gives him the money he puts it in a safe place to save for his daughter. Once he told me that I was happy that I started this project so I could hear what these people had to say when I gave them my present.
What part of this project are you proudest of, and why?
The part of this project that I am most proud of is getting the bags ready and taking them to Manna. After going and getting all the items and bagging them up and arriving at Manna I was really nervous at first but once I started talking to them and actually understanding them a little bit more about them I got comfortable. But the one I am most proud of is being able to change someone’s life by just giving them some food and water. A lot of people don’t care to Help the Marginalized, but for me Helping the Marginalized was so much more than that. I was actually taking time out of my day to just give one little thing that's why I did this project. If I was to do this project again to make it more beautiful I would have more time to plan all the days I am going to go and figure out how many bags I could make. Go help other people out even though if you don’t completely agree with some of the things you think they do. Make yourself proud and your community.
What does your project reveal about you as a learner?
This project reveals me as a learner by wanting to help other people out. As a person that likes to help other people out, I am a person of my own word. When I was a freshman at Animas High School and I was working in a group and the person in my group was failing I would help them to make sure they would not fail but at the end that did not work. But if it is about Marginalized people that is a lot different, I am going to make sure that the people that are starving or really thirsty get my help. So in this project, it revealed me as a learner by helping other people out. I want to show people that I do help other people out and just show that I care about the people around me.
