Model United Nations is an extracurricular education simulation activity in which students learn about diplomacy, international relation and the Model United Nations. In a MUN conference there are different participants, known as delegates there delegates are placed in committees and assigned countries to represent, or occasionally organizations or political figures, where they represent members of that body or Country. They are presented with their assignments in advance, along with a topic or topics that their committee will discuss. Delegates conduct research before conferences and they will then debate with their fellow delegates in the committee, staying true to the actual position. At the end of a conference, the best-performing delegates in each committee are sometimes recognized with awards.
2: How did you strengthen (or not strengthen) your skills during this project? How did you stretch yourself? In this project, I overcame several challenges and strengthened my skills in writing and advocacy. This project required us to write a very detailed essays that had to follow a specific format, as well as having to read, understand, and write my own policy papers and resolutions. Writing and formatting essays has always been difficult for me. But, I persevered, advocated for help, and was able to be successful in writing an essay, policy papers, and a resolution. By stretching myself I improved my writing skills, I worked independently and tried my best on it before I would go ask someone else for proofreading or editing help.
3: How did this project change your thinking about global issues? What enduring understandings about the world will you take away, and why? This project has changed my thinking on global issues very much because a lot of people around the world are struggling from drought, fires, severe precipitation, and many more dangerous phenomena that result from man made climate change.
