Student-Driven Campus Design
Paragraph 1: Write a classy description of the project itself
For this project, we were attempting to design a new building because our current school building does not provide imagination and big thinking. We learned from design thinking write and conduct a empathy interview, writing a proposal, how to use sketch-up, and how to collaborate. With all the things that the teachers are making us go through is going to help us in the long run. Not only is it going to help you in the long run but it is going to help you do projects outside of school, in other grades, and in college we aren't just talking about the smaller perspective but the bigger perspective.
Paragraph 2: Take-aways and Enduring Understandings
One takeaway in this project would be human centered design process. Human centered design process is a creative approach to problem solving and the backbone. It is all about building deep empathy with the people you are designing for, generating a ton of ideas, and building a bunch of prototype. Also sharing your design with future people that will come to the school and then eventually having or putting your innovation into the world.
Paragraph 3: Group Work Reflection
The one thing that was difficult for me was trying to advocate to my group about my ideas, all though my group wasn’t going to judge me I just didn’t know what to expect. I feel like I really connected with my group in the ending and I am happy I got to work with them. One thing that I would have changed about working in my group was discussing what we were going to do that day and giving everyone a role to do, so everyone would have something and not all the pressure would be on one person. For me I felt like I didn’t help as much as I wanted to.
Paragraph 4: Relevance and Personal Growth
I think it is very important to hear different students opinions. You want a school where students feel successful and can have that space to learn. For me I like spaces where I can go into a quiet space to learn and be successful. So yes, I think it is a great idea for students to have their perspective on the school that they will remember for their rest of their life, and tell their friends that they designed that school. You can also have the communities perspective on it too.
